Final day of the Changing Face of Hull Exhibition
It’s the last day of the Changing Face of Hull Exhibition and lead artist Quentin Budworth is giving two talks one for the photography and fine art students from Hull School of Art and Design and a public talk this evening open to the general public who would like to find out more about the project. The public talk is happening at the exhibition between 6.00 – 7.30. The Changing Face Of Hull Exhibition shows portraits of the people of Hull from diverse backgrounds and communities – ‘a must see exhibition’ (Hull City of Culture) at Hull Central Library on until 30th April.
Mini Changing Face of Hull Exhibition At Open Doors Project
The Open door mini exhibition will remain in situ and be added to as the project progresses and develops. The Changing Face Of Hull Exhibition shows portraits of the people of Hull from diverse backgrounds and communities – ‘a must see exhibition’ (Hull City of Culture) at Hull Central Library on until 30th April.
HIP Juniors visit the Changing Face Exhibition
Young people from the HIP Juniors (Hull International Photography Gallery) visited the Changing Face Exhibition for a junior masterclass with Lead artist Quentin Budworth on saturday 12 children and four adults attended this special event. The youngsters were encouraged to look at the portraits in the exhibition and give feedback to the group on their favourite image. Then they engaged in some judicious photobombing and a short session on reading an exhibition and how to link images in sequences. The session finished with the youngsters leaving feedback in the comments book.

Today’s Changing Face of Hull is Amrita Singh here she speaks of her life in Hull and her childhood.
“I grew up in Hull, at one time it felt like we were the only Indian family in the City. There wasn’t a lot to do then – now things are much improved with plenty of opportunities for going out and having a nice time as a family.”

Exhibition Opening Event
Over 160 people attended the opening event of the Changing Face Of Hull Exhibition on Thursday April 2nd. It was a great success with food supplied by Zoo Cafe on Newland Avenue and speeches from The Deputy Mayor Councillor Anita Harrison, Second Photographer Rebecca Robyns and lead artist Quentin Budworth.
About the experience Quentin said:
“Putting the exhibition up was an epic endeavour, involving very long days with hard physical and mental work. It would have been impossible to complete without cake, coffee, a spirit level and a hammer! Tim Wall helped on the first day putting up the screen and setting up the projector and Anna Kirk-Smith helped with the curation and physical hanging of the exhibition, whilst Andrea Petch dealt efficiently with the press and marketing of the preview. Artlink were absolute stars in assisting us with the signage, thanks a million Kate! Jessica Leathley was a constant and enthusiastic presence throughout and Isaac a kind and gently supportive cake and tea provider. Big thanks also to the Library caretaking staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Thanks also to Rebecca Robyns for documenting the preview event .
Seeing the room filled with people who normally would not spend an evening together enjoying a shared experience, the photography, film, food and each other filled my heart with joy and is perhaps one of the real achievements of the project”.

The Changing Face Exhibition opens today!
The Changing Face of Hull Exhibition opens today and runs until April 30th 2015 in The Space upstairs at the Central Library, Albion Street, Hull. This stunning exhibition of portraits of people living and working in Hull and explores ideas of self, city and shared identity. Click on the photo to access the unique video artwork which accompanies the exhibition The project has been led by Quentin Budworth with second photographer Rebecca Robyns and has been funded by Hull City Council and the Arts Council’s Grants For The Arts.
